We offer residential and commercial mosquito control in northern Chicago and the Northshore area, for several types of mosquitos including both daytime and nighttime feeders. While active from April through November, mosquitoes can be severely aggressive June through September.

Mosquitos are a public health concern known to spread diseases like the West Nile Virus and Zika Virus, which have been carried and transmitted by mosquitos in Cook county and the state of Illinois.  Proactively treating for mosquitos can help reduce the risk of infection.

We can help get rid of the vast majority of mosquitoes near your home or business area, and recommend starting services early to help reduce the population of those pest that give us the itchy bite!

Rodents often become a problem for homeowners after seeking shelter inside of homes, garages, and other outbuildings. They also live in yards too!  Mice are attracted by food odors and heat during the fall and winter months.  Believe it or not, mice can enter your home through as small as a dime-sized hole your brick, mortar or wood framing.

Preventing rodent problems is difficult when you have an older home, or when your home has gone through additions, remodels or other construction.  Within only a couple of years, your home can settle and create enough space for rodents to get in when they’re looking for food, water, and shelter.  Some of the most common things that attract rodents are:

  • Open containers of trash or composts
  • Gardens and fruit trees
  • Pet food and bird feeders
  • Leaky outdoor fixtures or areas that allow standing water to pool
  • Clutter
  • Overgrown landscaping plants, woodpiles, or rock piles

Cockroaches are omnivorous, eating a wide range of human foods, pet food, fruit, leather, and even book bindings.  They also feed on the dead bodies and excrement of other cockroaches.  They prefer to live in cracks, crevices, and voids away from light.  Cockroaches come out looking for food during the dark hours.  Within a home, they are mostly found in the kitchen and bathroom, where food and water are available.  Areas around the stove and refrigerator in a kitchen usually have the largest number of cockroaches.

It’s no secret, when you see one, there’s a whole colony behind it.  Call us immediately if you see cockroaches, as infestations can run rampant if not controlled within an adequate amount of time.

Common house spiders are a nuisance pest.  Inside of structures, house spiders are most likely to be found in upper corners, under furniture, in closets, angles of window frames, basements, garages, and crawl spaces. In warehouses, they are common in corners near doors that stay open.

We are here to help by doing integrated pest management.  We’ll keep them under control and help prevent them from entering your home to begin with.  We recommend sealing cracks around the outside of the house by using a silicone-based caulk. Also inspecting the screens around windows and doors can give you insights into where they’re entering if you see those creepy crawlers in your home.

Are Pests Bugging You?

ant, insect, animal-453348.jpg

Ants are part of nature’s cleaning crew they efficiently find and remove food that is left around. The problem is, sometimes humans don’t want their help!

You’ve probably noticed ants more commonly come indoors in spring and summer.  That’s largely because most insects are more active in the warmer months.  Ants occasionally come inside in search of water, particularly during dry periods. In this case you may see them in bathrooms or other humid parts of the house.  Heavy rains can also cause ant nests to flood and force them to relocate to nearby buildings, such as your home, garage, basement or other outhomes.

No one wants to see ants near their food or in their home.  So call us if this pest is causing you to feel squeamish in your own home.

centipede, creep, worm-8695.jpg

While many centipedes prefer to live outdoors, others will make their way indoors. Inside your home, they are attracted to cool, dark, damp places that are rarely disturbed. They are attracted to moisture and can often be found near food sources. They like to hide out in cement block walls, boxes, clutter on the floor, floor drains, on or near plants, leaky faucets, leaking hoses, and broken gutters. They can get into your home through drains, holes, cracks, gaps, and poorly sealed doors and windows.

Centipedes are know for being one of those bugs that gives people the “creeps,” and can make you uncomfortable in your own home.  Many times, doing construction or remodeling your home can disturb their hiding places, and cause them to become more visible.  If your peace is being disturbed by these critters, call us after your home renovation is complete to ensure you never have to deal with them.
